On May 11, we had the opportunity to tour the exhibition. They were guided by a star, with which the Photography archive museum restarted activities after a pause due to the pandemic in Mexico City.
The exhibition is a journey through the documentary work of the Mexican photographer Elsa Chabaud that addresses the office of being the Magician King in the City. Museum staff welcomed us to give a guided visit to some of the valedores who shared their experiences on the theme of the exhibition. In addition, we were able to learn more about the process of cataloging the enormous collection of the museum, which contains more than two million photographic images that are an invaluable account of the changes that have occurred in Mexico City throughout more than 100 years.
We thank the museum staff for their attention and welcome, and especially its director Daniel Vargas. The space is currently operating, and awaits you with the doors open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.
Mi Valedor took part in the Pride edition of the Espacio Fotográfico Bazaar, a cultural and artistic gathering held at Casa Refugio Citlaltépetl. Throughout the weekend, the team shared the space with a wide range of independent artists and visual projects, reinforcing the organization’s presence at events that celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and strengthen community connections.
On June 23, the Mi Valedor team took part in a special guided tour at the Museum of Modern Art. As they explored the galleries, the group had the opportunity to discover one of the most significant private collections of Mexican art from the twentieth century, while sharing an enriching experience of learning and community.
Music, art, and diversity came together on June 5 during a fundraising evening in support of Manos Amigues LGBTQ+ Community Center. The event brought together artists, community organizations, and attendees in a celebration dedicated to strengthening safe spaces and supporting grassroots initiatives that promote inclusion and provide care and support sexual and gender diversity.
