Mi Valedor took part in the Pride edition of the Espacio Fotográfico Bazaar, a cultural and artistic gathering held at Casa Refugio Citlaltépetl. Throughout the weekend, the team shared the space with a wide range of independent artists and visual projects, reinforcing the organization’s presence at events that celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and strengthen community connections.
Mi Valedor was represented by Valedores Pancho and Camaxtli, who welcomed visitors and engaged directly with everyone who stopped by the stand. Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to explore different issues of the magazine, connect with the team, and learn about the self-employment model that helps sustain the Valedor community.
Mi Valedor‘s table became a special showcase, featuring photographs taken by the Valedores throughout the organization’s photography workshops. Through these images, visitors were able to experience the community’s unique perspective and appreciate the creative and educational processes that continue to grow through Mi Valedor’s work every day.
The bazaar also featured a wide range of items celebrating independent art and visual culture. The different booths offered T-shirts with original designs, printed tote bags, and postcards, alongside independently published books and printed works by local creators seeking to share their work through self-managed and independent projects.
One of the highlights of the bazaar was the diversity of the photographic work on display, which included carefully composed black-and-white images alongside a wide range of visual styles. Among the featured pieces, a photograph of a forest particularly caught visitors’ attention. The photographer shared that she had captured the image while camping in a forest near Michoacán.
Beyond the photography on display, the venue also hosted the striking textile installation Nombrarles a Todxs, a collective memory project initiated by artist Fabiola Rayas in 2022. The installation seeks to name and make visible people who have disappeared, as well as victims of human rights violations across Mexico, offering an act of remembrance, recognition, and collective care.
The centerpiece of the installation is made up of nearly 900 fabric banners suspended from the ceiling, transforming the architectural space that holds them. Each banner bears the name of a disappeared person, hand-drawn or embroidered by family members and loved ones as an act of trust and remembrance. The installation turned the venue into both an exhibition space and a place of collective reflection and connection for the community.
The event also created spaces for dialogue and learning through a program of academic and cultural activities. Throughout the venue, information boards announced a series of public talks held alongside the bazaar. One of the featured sessions, Between the Muxe and the Queer, was presented by Nelson Morales and explored questions of identity from culturally grounded perspectives.
The cultural program also featured the talk Sexual Diversity in the History of Mexico, presented by researcher Luis Huitrón. The lecture invited attendees on a thoughtful journey through the histories of sexual and intellectual dissidence in Mexico. In this way, BEF Pride at Casa Refugio Citlaltépetl became a vibrant space where fair trade, art, historical memory, and Pride came together.

As they explored the galleries, the group had the opportunity to discover one of the most significant private collections of Mexican art from the twentieth century, while sharing an enriching experience of learning and community.
Music, art, and diversity came together on June 5 during a fundraising evening in support of Manos Amigues LGBTQ+ Community Center. The event brought together artists, community organizations, and attendees in a celebration dedicated to strengthening safe spaces and supporting grassroots initiatives that promote inclusion and provide care and support sexual and gender diversity.
Traveling is also about discovering the communities that take shape around art. On July 18, 2026, Oaxaca hosted the first edition of Trazo Town, a gathering that brought together illustration, fanzines, music, and independent design in a space where connection itself was at the heart of the experience. Mi Valedor was there to be part of it.
