This Wednesday, February 22nd, Mi Valedor started a program of activities at the CAIS shelter in Viaducto Piedad (a shelter for street populations in Mexico City). With these activities, the aim is to accompany new beneficiaries, so that they can join as valedor. An informative talk was given, where they shared with us their objectives and particular needs.
The objective of Mi Valedor is to contribute to successful social reintegration with a social work model that develops labor and social skills that allow the beneficiaries to perform a job or become actively involved in the labor market.
In order to achieve this objective, our intervention is developed based on the invitation of potential beneficiaries in specific contexts: shelters, canteens or public spaces inhabited by people in vulnerable situations.
The actions carried out at CAIS Coruña will be divided into three stages:
1. Individual diagnosis
2. Construction of social and labor skills
3. Formal integration into Mi Valedor
On July 14, Mi Valedor hosted a Fanzine Workshop at Museo Jumex as part of the exhibition Football and Art: The Same Emotion. During the session, participants created football-inspired fanzines to share stories, ideas, and reflections drawn from their own experiences.
In the heart of the Historic Center, a group of Mi Valedor members gathered at Fundación Herdez to share much more than recipes: life stories, culinary knowledge, and the joy of building community around the kitchen.
Circo Volador, a renowned arts and cultural center, is one of Mexico City’s most iconic spaces for underground culture. Founded in 1995 by UNAM researcher Héctor Castillo Berthier, it has become a landmark social project, widely recognized as the city’s “cathedral of metal and rock” for its concerts, workshops, and community outreach. On this occasion, its Art Gallery became the home of a very special photography exhibition: “The Other Side of the Pitch”.
