“Little bites of flavour: A little piece of the Ranch” – A Fanzine that celebrates race and mexican culture

Valdor, Emy enthusiastically presented her zine, titled “Little bites of flavour: a little piece of the ranch”,  a project that takes us by the hand, to rediscover traditions, flavours and the stories of her homeland. This presentation was made possible thanks to the support of the Herdez foundation A.C, in an event full of emotion and cultural connection.

The Zine by Emy is much more than a collection of recipes and anecdotes, it is a book that reflects love for traditional mexican food and the importance of keeping alive customs that unite us as a society. Within these pages, Emy shares with us stories that transports the writings to the more authentic corners of her ranch, where food is an act of care, history and community.

During the presentation, Emy shared with the attendees the inspiration behind her zine, speaking about how cooking and family traditions have been a fundamental part of her life. ‘Little Bites of Flavor: A Little Piece of the Ranch’ is not only a tribute to her hometown’s cuisine, but also a celebration of the human connection that is created around the table. Emy explained how each dish featured in the zine carries a story that goes beyond the ingredients, inviting everyone to appreciate the value of our roots and what they represent.

The event, organized by the Herdez Foundation A.C., was also an opportunity for Emy to share her creative process and her vision on the power of fanzines as a means of personal and cultural expression. The presentation not only celebrated her work but also the effort to spread our traditions in an accessible and relatable format.

This fanzine is a testament to how personal experiences, when shared with the world, can create a more united community that is aware of the cultural richness surrounding us. For Emy, this project is just the beginning of a journey in which she will continue bringing her ‘little bites of flavor’ to every corner, connecting stories, flavors, and hearts.
